Kerala has a 600-km long shoreline dotted with some of the finest beaches in the world. Each unique for it's own natural perfection. Alappuzha Beaches
With the Arabian sea on the west and a vast network of lakes, lagoons and fresh water rivers crisscrossing it, Alappuzha is a district of immense natural beauty. Referred to as the Venice of the East by travellers from across the world, this backwater country is also home to diverse animal and bird life. By virtue of its proximity to the sea, the town has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of Kerala.
Kannur Beaches  

With the Lakshadweep sea in the west, the Western Ghats in the east and Kozhikode and Wayanad districts in the south.

Kannur is sorrounded by a wealth of natural beauty. The district has been a key contributor to the cultural, religious, political and industrial heritage of the state.

Kochi Beaches    

Ernakulam district is a cluster of islands networked by lagoons and backwaters. Kochi , one of the finest natural harbours in the world, was once a major centre of commerce and trade with the Arabs, Chinese, Portuguese, Dutch and the British. The commercial capital and the most cosmopolitan city of Kerala , Kochi is also known as the Queen of the Arabian Sea . The foreign traders have left their mark on this beautiful island.

Muzhapilangad

 

The Muzhapilangad beach which stretches across four kilometres of sand is a drivein beach where one can drive down the entire length. Calm and serene, the place is secluded and remains unexplored. Huge black rocks scattered here protect this long beach from the deep currents, and form a tranquil pool of shallow water that is a swimmer's paradise. The palm groves fringing the beach is a cool hideaway from the tropical sun.

Bakel  

About a kilometre from Bekal Fort, about 16 km south of Kasaragod on the national highway, Kasaragod district, north Kerala.
Kasaragod , the northernmost district of Kerala is renowned as the land of gods, forts, rivers, hills and beautiful beaches. The imposing circular fort at Bekal is one of the largest and best preserved forts in Kerala.

Kappad  

For the people of Kozhikode , this pleasant stretch of rock studded beach is Kappakkadavu. To the tourist, it is one of Kerala's most charming beaches.
Kappad finds a mention in history and geography texts as the gateway to the Malabar coast . Here, 501 years ago, 170 men led by the Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama (14601524) sailed in and stepped into Kerala to create a new chapter in history. The story of a long and tumultuous sociopolitical relationship between India and Europe .

Kovalam

   
September to March, though it is an all year destination. Kovalam is an internationally renowned beach with three adjacent crescent beaches. It has been a favourite haunt of tourists, especially Europeans, since the 1930s. A massive, rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at this beach are plenty and diverse sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes, catamaran cruising etc.

Shanghumukham

   

Just 8 km from Thiruvananthapuram, this is a favourite haunt for sunset watchers.
This beach is adjacent to the Thiruvananthapuram airport and Veli Tourist Village .

Kasaragod Beaches

   

The northernmost district of Kerala, Kasaragod is situated on the sea coast bordered by the hilly Kodagu and Mangalore districts of Karnataka in the east and north.
Attractions: Fishing is a prime source of livelihood along with the coir and handloom industries. With its unique natural and cultural attractions Kasaragod is known as the land of gods, forts, rivers, hills and beautiful beaches.

Kozhikode Beaches    

Kozhikode a much sought-after tourist destination is a land of serene beaches, ancient monuments, lush green countrysides, historic sites, wildlife sanctuaries, rivers, hills, a unique culture and a warm, friendly ambience.
Once the capital of the powerful Zamorins and a prominent trade and commerce centre, Kozhikode was the most important region of Malabar.

Varkala

   

51 km north of Thiruvananthapuram city and 37 km south of Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram district, South Kerala .
Beach, mineral water springs, the Sivagiri Mutt and a 2000 year old Vishnu temple. Varkala, a calm and quiet hamlet, lies on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram district. It has several places of tourist interest like a beautiful beach, a 2000 year old Vishnu temple and the ashramam 'Sivagiri Mutt' a little distance from the beach.
